                  Abstract:Inviewofthelimitationsoftraditionalearthrockdamslopestabilityanalysismethodsindealingwiththe
                  spatialvariabilityofsoilparameters ,areliabilityanalysismethodforearthrockdam slopesbasedonKarhunen -
                  Loève(K - L)expansionmethodisproposedinthispaper.TheK - LexpansionmethodisintegratedwithLatinhy
                  percubesamplingtechniqueandCholeskydecompositionmethodtoestablisharandomfieldmodelofdamslopesoil
                  parameters,forwhichthespatialuncertaintyandstochasticityaretakenintoaccount.Onthisbasis,theMonte
                  Carlosimulationmethodisusedtoevaluatethereliabilityofthedamslope.Throughthesensitivityanalysisofvaria
                  tioncoefficient ,autocorrelationdistanceandcorrelationcoefficientofsoilparameters,theeffectsoftheseparame
                  tersonslopefailureprobability ,safetyfactorandpotentialslipsurfacedistributionarestudied.Theresultsshow
                  thatthespatialvariabilityofsoilparametersontheearthrockdam slopehasasignificantimpactonthestability.
                  Thevariationcoefficientofinternalfrictionangle ,verticalautocorrelationdistanceandcorrelationcoefficienthavea
                  greaterimpactonthedamslopereliability.Whenthecoefficientofvariationofinternalfrictionangleincreasesfrom
                  0.1to0.4 ,theslopefailureprobabilityofdamslopeincreasesby32.55%.Whentheverticalautocorrelationdis
                  tanceincreasesfrom1mto4m ,thefailureprobabilityincreasesby2.1%.Whenthecorrelationcoefficientincrea
                  sesfrom - 0.8to0.5 ,thefailureprobabilityincreasesby3.85%.
