Abstract:Thechangeofhydrogeologicalcharacteristicsduetothefillingofthereservoirofdamwillinducesignifi
cantfoundationsettlementsofsurroundingbuildings.Forthesakeofreasonablepredictionofthesettlement ,itis
necessarytoanalyzetheconsolidationbehaviorofunsaturatedsoils.Inresponse ,basedonthetheoryofmixture,
theair - waterpermeabilityfunctionandwaterretentionequationwerediscretelinearizedinthecoupledequationsof
seepage - deformation.Then ,theone - dimensionalconsolidationdifferentialequationsconsideringthevariationof
air - waterpermeabilitywereobtainedandanalyticallysolvedusingintegraltransformmethod.Finally,atypicalex
ampleofunsaturatedsoillayerinwhichairandwaterareinterconnectedwasgiventocompareamongtheprevious
analyticalsolutionwithoutconsideringthevariationofair - waterpermeability ,theproposedsolutionandthefinite
differencesolution.Theresultsshowthattheinfluenceofair - waterpermeabilityinteractionontheconsolidation
processofunsaturatedsoilisconsideredintheproposedanalyticalsolution,sothatthecalculateddissipationof
porewaterandairpressureandevolutionofsettlementbytheproposedsolutionareclosertothecorrespondingcal
culatedcurvebyfinitedifferencesolutionthantheprevioussolution.
