                  Abstract:Inordertoreducetheadverseeffectsofseverepressurepulsationsgeneratedduringthetransition
                  processofthepumpturbineonthesafetyofpumpedstoragepowerstations,itisnecessarytofullyunderstandthe
                  characteristicsofpressurepulsationofpump - turbine.Thispaperconductsanin - depthstudyonthemeasuredpres
                  suredataofthepump - turbinewithsplitterbladesduringtheloadrejectiontransitionprocess.First ,amethodfor
                  extractingtime - averagepressureandpulsatingpressurebasedonvariationalmodedecomposition (VMD)ispresen
                  tedbasedonthefrequencydomaincharacteristicsofpressurepulsations.Then ,FastFourierTransform(FFT)and
                  ShortTimeFourierTransform(STFT)areusedtoanalyzethepulsatingpressureatthespiralcasinginlet,vaneless
                  area,topcover,anddrafttubeconeinletduringthestableoperationandloadrejectionofthepumpturbine.The
                  generalbehaviorsoffrequencycompositionandtime - frequencyvariationfeaturesarerevealedduringthetransition
                  periodofsteadyoperationandloadrejectionofpumpturbineswithsplitterblades.Theresearchshowsthatthemain
                  frequencyofthepressurepulsationinthevanelessareaofthepumpturbinewithsplitterbladesisdominatedbythe
                  bladepassingfrequency (BPF)anditshalf - orderharmonics,andthehalf - orderharmonicsoftheBPFhavethe
                  characteristicsofupstreamanddownstreampropagation.Thedrafttubeinletpressurepulastionfrequencyismainly
                  composedofthelowfrequencycomponentandthehalf - harmonicoftheBPF.Duringtheloadrejectiontransition
                  process ,theBPFanditsharmonicfrequencyinthevanelessareawillincreaseanddecreasewithtime,andthe
                  changeruleisconsistentwiththechangetrendoftherunnerspeed.Themethodprovidedinthisresearchpresentsa
                  novelapproachforanalyzingcollectedpressurepulsationsandprovidesareferenceforthestudyofthepressurepul
                  sationcharacteristicsofpumpturbineswithsplitterblades.Itisofgreatsignificancetotracethesourceoftheab
                  normalvibrationofstructureandensurethesafeoperationoftheunits.
