Abstract:TheK 0 coefficientisanimportantgeotechnicalparameter.Investigatingitsinfluencingfactorsand
changelawisvitalfordetermininggroundstressstates.TheinfluenceoftemperatureontheK 0 coefficientwasin
vestigatedinthispaperusingexperimentalandtheoreticalmethods.Firstly,someconfinedcompressiontestsatdif
ferenttemperatureswereconductedonsaturatedmixturesamplesofstandardsandandbentonite.Thechangelawof
the K 0 coefficientwithtemperaturewasobtained,indicatingthattheK 0 coefficientofnormallyconsolidatedsoilsde
creasesbutthatofoverconsolidatedsoilsincreasesslightlyastemperatureincreases.Secondly ,aquantitativerela
tionshipbetweenthe K 0 coefficientandtheinclinationoftheelastoplasticyieldsurfacewasderived,whichwasthen
combinedwiththeresultsofthetemperature - controlledconfinedcompressiontest.Thus ,thevariationoftheincli
nationoftheyieldsurfacewithtemperaturewasobtained.Finally ,byintroducingtherelationshipbetweenthein
clinationofyieldsurfaceandtemperatureintothetheoreticalframeworkoftheunifiedhardeningconstitutivemodel,
anewelastoplasticconstitutivemodelforsaturatedclayeysoilsconsideringthetemperatureeffectontheK 0 coeffi
cientwasestablished ,whichcanwellsimulatevariouslaboratorymechanicaltests.
